At first glance you absorb his bold use of color and harmonic textures, but then you’re immediately pulled into a story, where each painting allows you to peer into a piece of André's soul. In one of André's paintings, a city skyline emerges amongst a layering of cool blues—and suddenly you feel part of a moment in Andre's life as a NYC artist. In another work, a chorus of brush strokes are interrupted by a bold swell of warm tones and you practically experience synesthesia, as you are transported to a jazz performance and reminded of André's background as a musician. André's work is vibrant and personal, his brush strokes melodic and intentional, and through his craftsmanship and abstraction one is able to connect on a higher, almost spiritual level. The Vigorous Spirit is transcendent."
